How Much Does a Medium Reading Cost? Prices Explained

What a medium reading costs, what the price should cover, why per-minute pricing is a trap, and the one pricing pattern that should make you walk away.

The short answer: my written medium reading costs US$57, by email within 48 hours, for one person who has died. First-time clients can start with the US$23 first medium reading. Those are fixed prices, stated before you order, and there are no follow-up fees. Across the trade, prices run from a few dollars for a minute of live chat to several hundred for a celebrity sitting, and the price tells you almost nothing about the reading.

I am Chaya, a fourth generation Romani psychic and medium from Ireland. I have delivered 41,500 readings since 2019. Here is how I would think about the cost if I were paying it.

What the price should cover

A fair price covers one defined thing: a reading for one named person, with a stated delivery time and a stated scope. You should know before you pay what you will receive, when, and what the medium says they cannot do. If any of those is missing from the listing, the price is not the problem.

My US$57 reading is a written account of what came through for the person you name, sent within 48 hours, with my honest note of what was strong and what was faint. The US$23 first reading is the same reading at a first-client price, once per person. The medium reading guide sets out both.

Fixed price or per minute

Live phone and chat platforms usually charge by the minute, often from prepaid credit. The reading ends when the money does. For mediumship that is a poor fit, because contact is not something a clock can hurry, and a slow reading on a meter becomes an expensive one. A fixed price for a defined reading is easier to judge and easier to budget. My guide to how much a psychic reading costs compares the models in detail.

The price pattern that should make you leave

Any medium who, after the first reading, says your loved one is trapped, unsettled or in danger and needs more work, for more money, to be freed. This is the oldest trick in the trade and it is aimed at grief. A genuine reading has one price. It does not generate a bill for the next one.

Is a more expensive medium better?

No. Price reflects demand, reputation and overheads, not the quality of what comes through. Some very expensive mediums are excellent. Some are famous. Those are different things. Judge by the specifics in the reading and the honesty about limits, not by the fee. My guide to how accurate medium readings are explains what to look for.

What you are paying for in a written reading

Time and attention on one person, written down carefully, with nothing hidden behind a reaction or a running clock. You can read it when you are ready and keep it. For most of the people who come to me after a loss, that is worth more than a live session they cannot replay.
