Medium Reading by Phone or Email: Which Is Better?
A phone reading gives you the exchange; a written reading gives you something to keep and judge. Here is how to choose, and why I work in writing.
The short answer: a phone medium reading gives you a live exchange, where you can respond and ask again. A written medium reading gives you something you can read when you are ready, keep, and judge on its own. I work in writing, and I will tell you why, and I will tell you when a phone reading is the better choice.
I am Chaya, a fourth generation Romani psychic and medium from Ireland. I have delivered 41,500 readings since 2019, almost all of them written.
What a phone reading gives you
Immediacy. You hear the medium's voice, you can say "yes, that is him" or "no, she never did that", and the reading can follow what lands. For some people that back-and-forth is the whole point, and a good phone medium uses it well. The limits are that it passes once, you may not remember it accurately, it is usually priced by the minute, and your reactions give the medium information whether either of you intends it.
What a written reading gives you
Permanence and distance. Everything I pick up goes down on the page before you see any of it, so there is no reaction to read and nothing to steer. You open it when you are ready, alone if you need to be, and you can come back to it. Details that meant nothing on the first read often make sense a week later when a relative explains them. The price is fixed, and the delivery time is stated: mine is 48 hours.
The limit is that you cannot ask a follow-up in the moment. If something is unclear you can reply within seven days and I will explain what I meant, but the reading itself is what it is.
Which is easier to judge
Written, by a distance. A written reading has to stand on its own: the specifics are either there on the page or they are not, and you can check them against what you did and did not send. My guide to how accurate medium readings are explains how to score one. A phone reading is harder to judge afterwards because memory is kind to it.
Which suits a first reading
If you have never had a medium reading and are nervous, written. You can send little, read what comes back in your own time, and decide what you think without anyone on the line. The US$23 first medium reading exists for exactly that. If you have had readings before and know you want the exchange, a phone reading with a medium you trust is a fair choice, and you should expect to pay more for it.
Why I write
Because I think it is more honest. I cannot watch your face, so what I write is what I received and nothing more. You get the whole of it, in order, with my note of what was strong and what was faint, and you can keep it. For someone grieving, I think that is kinder than a call that ends when the credit does. My guide to a medium reading by email sets out the format, the price and what to send.
