Many people who come to me after losing a dog, a cat, a horse or a bird want one thing: a sense that their companion is all right, and that the bond they shared still means something. What a pet medium reading is

A pet medium reading is an attempt to connect with an animal who has passed. I sit with the details you send, your own name and date of birth along with your pet's name and species, and I write down what comes through: feelings, images, impressions and themes. It might be a sense of how your pet experienced their life with you, a habit or a place that stands out, the mood they carried, or something they seem to want you to remember.

Animal mediumship is symbolic and sensory. Animals did not talk to us in sentences while they were alive, and I do not pretend they start after death. What comes through tends to feel more like warmth, movement, a picture or a feeling in the body than a message in words. I write it plainly and tell you what I received. I will not turn it into a speech your pet would never have made.

What to send

At checkout you are asked for four things: your full name, your date of birth, your pet's name and your pet's species. That is all the reading needs. If you want to, you can add a few lines about your pet: how long you had them, what they were like, or a question you keep coming back to. Some people ask whether their pet knew how loved they were. Some ask about the decision they had to make at the end. Some simply want to feel close again for a little while. Keep it short and honest. You do not need to prove anything to me or test me with hidden details.

What you receive

You receive a private written reading by email within 48 hours. It sets out the impressions that came through during the connection and what I understand them to mean, with space for the memories and details you chose to share. Because it is written, you can read it once, put it away, and come back to it when you are ready. Grief changes how a reading lands from one day to the next, and a written reading lets you take it in at your own pace.

What a pet medium reading cannot do

I cannot guarantee contact, and I cannot promise specific words, names or answers. Sometimes a connection is clear and full. Sometimes it is faint, and if that happens I will say so rather than fill the space with guesses. A reading cannot establish as fact how your pet died, and it cannot prove what they were thinking. It is not a substitute for a vet, and it cannot settle a medical question about an illness or a treatment. If you are carrying heavy guilt, or the grief is more than you can manage on your own, please talk to someone you trust or a pet loss support service as well. A reading can sit beside that support. It does not replace it.

A pet who has passed, or a pet still with you

Grief for an animal is real grief

People sometimes apologise to me for being so upset about a pet. There is no need. An animal shares your days in a way few people do. They know your routines, your moods and the sound of your key in the door. Losing that is a real loss, and the grief can be sharp and long, especially if the end came suddenly or you had to make the decision yourself. I do not measure grief by species, and I do not treat a reading for an animal as a lesser kind of mediumship.

A reading will not end grief, and it should not be the only thing you lean on. What it can do is give you something to hold: a sense of your companion as they were, and a few pages you can return to on the hard days.

Feeling your pet after they have gone

Many people tell me they have felt their pet after death: a weight settling on the bed, a familiar sound in the hall, a dream that felt different from other dreams. I listen to those experiences with respect, and I also know that grief makes us listen hard for the ones we have lost. I cannot tell you for certain what each of those moments was.
