The Eight of Swords as an Outcome: Feeling Trapped

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Eight of Swords as an outcome feels like a trap that is looser than it looks. Here is what it means.

The Eight of Swords as an outcome is feeling stuck. The situation is heading toward restriction, much of it in the mind.

What the Eight of Swords means as an outcome upright

Tina Gong's the Eight of Swords guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with negative thoughts, self-imposed restriction, imprisonment and victim mentality. In the outcome position I read those meanings as the likely direction of the situation if things carry on as they are now. An outcome card is not a fixed sentence. It shows where the current road leads, and roads can be changed. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Eight of Swords shows the outcome limited by fear. The way out exists.

The Eight of Swords reversed as an outcome

Reversed, the Eight of Swords as an outcome points to release and new perspective.

The Eight of Swords as a love outcome

As a love outcome, the Eight of Swords points to feeling stuck in a relationship or in your own fears about one.

The Eight of Swords as an outcome for work and money

For work and money, the Eight of Swords as an outcome warns of feeling trapped in a role. A card can describe a direction; for decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take advice from someone qualified as well.

What helps this outcome along

New perspective helps this outcome.

For comparison, the Devil as an outcome and the Nine of Swords as an outcome point somewhere different. The the Eight of Swords card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Eight of Swords as advice, the Eight of Swords as feelings and the Eight of Swords as a yes or no cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
