The Chariot as Advice: Focus and Drive Forward

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Chariot as advice asks for discipline and direction. Here is how to apply it, and what the reversal says about scattered effort.

If you want the short answer, the Chariot as advice says: pick a direction and drive. Hold your competing impulses together by will, stop getting distracted, and push through the obstacle in front of you.

What the Chariot advises upright

Tina Gong's the Chariot guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with control, willpower, victory and determination. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Chariot advises discipline: one goal, a clear plan, daily effort, and a refusal to be pulled off course by every passing doubt.

What the Chariot is not asking you to do

The Chariot is not asking you to run people over. Determination without care is the reversal.

The Chariot reversed as advice

Reversed, the Chariot as advice says you are pulling in two directions. Decide which way you are actually going before you push any harder. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Chariot as advice in love

In love, the Chariot advises taking the relationship forward deliberately, or deciding firmly that you will not.

The Chariot as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises focus on one target until it is reached. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Name the single goal that matters most right now and remove one distraction from your week to serve it.

For comparison, Strength as advice and the Hermit as advice ask different things of you. The the Chariot card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Chariot as a yes or no, the Chariot as feelings and the Chariot as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it. For a personal interpretation, my guide to an online psychic reading explains how readings work, and the three-card tarot listing and customer reviews are worth reading before deciding whether to order.
