The Lovers as Feelings: A Choice Being Felt
The Lovers is the card everyone wants in a love question, and it is a card about choosing. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Lovers as feelings that are strong, attracted and facing a choice. In a feelings position the card suggests the person feels a real pull toward you and that the pull sits beside a decision they have not finished making. It does not tell you how they will decide. The angel is over both figures. Neither has moved.
This is the card of attraction and values meeting. The feeling is real. So is the choosing.
The Lovers upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Lovers guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with love, harmony, relationships, values and choices. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Lovers as a person who feels a deep draw to you and takes it seriously enough that it has become a question in their life: whether to act, whether it fits, whether it is right. The intensity of the feeling and the weight of the choice tend to arrive together.
What I would not read into it is that the choice has been made in your favour. The Lovers describes the moment of standing at the choice. It is one of the most honest cards about what wanting someone actually involves.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm that the person will choose you, that they are free to, or that the attraction is not matched by an attraction elsewhere. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Lovers reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Lovers is often read as disharmony, misaligned values, or a choice avoided. As feelings, I read the reversal as attraction that is tangled with conflict: a person who feels it and knows it does not fit, or who wants two things and will not choose, or who has chosen and not told you.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the person seem torn in a way they will not explain? Or do their feelings and their life point in different directions, with you on one side? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Lovers as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Lovers can suggest that the feeling is still there and still a question for them: they are weighing you against the reasons it ended. That weighing can go either way. The card cannot tell you which side the scale tips, and anyone who says it can is guessing. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Lovers as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card suggests a strong attraction that the person feels as significant rather than casual. That is a good sign and a demanding one. People who feel the Lovers tend to need time to decide, and they decide with their values, not only their heart.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for seriousness: they ask real questions, they talk about what matters to them, they are visibly weighing something rather than drifting. A Lovers feeling looks like someone taking you seriously enough to be unsure. Flippancy is not this card.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person seems to be choosing between, and what you would need from them to stay in the choice. The third note is yours to decide. Another draw will mostly reflect the same two figures under the same angel.
For comparison, the Two of Cups as feelings and the Devil as feelings describe different feelings.
