The Sun as Feelings: Warm, Glad and Unhidden
The Sun is the child on the horse under a blazing sky. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why it is simpler than people make it.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Sun as feelings that are warm, glad and not hidden. In a feelings position the card suggests the person is happy around you, feels brighter for knowing you and is not trying to conceal it. It does not tell you the feeling is romantic rather than joyful. The Sun shines on everyone it likes.
This is the simplest feelings card in the deck. The complication, when there is one, is usually in the reader.
The Sun upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Sun guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with joy, success, positivity, vitality and clarity. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Sun as a person who feels good with you, openly and without much strategy. They smile when you turn up. They say what they feel because it does not occur to them to hide it. If there is romance in it, it will be obvious.
What I would not read into it is depth. The Sun is honest about the present and says nothing about the long term. Joy today is a good start and not a promise.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm romantic intent, exclusivity, or that the brightness will survive the first serious difficulty between you. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Sun reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Sun is often read as temporary gloom, over-optimism, or a brightness that is forced. As feelings, I read the reversal as warmth that is dimmed by circumstance, or as cheerfulness performed over something the person does not want to look at.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the person seem subdued lately in a way that has a visible cause? Or does their brightness feel like a wall rather than a window? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Sun as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Sun can suggest that they remember you with gladness and feel no bitterness. That is a gift, and it is not a signal. People can be warmly glad they knew you and perfectly settled in having moved on. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Sun as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this is a cheerful card: they enjoy you and show it. The question is whether the enjoyment deepens, which depends on time rather than on the card. Let it be light while it is light.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for visible pleasure: they light up, they laugh easily with you, they are not guarded. A Sun feeling is hard to miss, and if you are having to search for it, the card may be describing your hope rather than their heart.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, the plain evidence that the person enjoys your company, and whether you are asking the card to turn gladness into something it has not said. Another draw will mostly reflect the same child on the same horse.
For comparison, the Star as feelings and the Ten of Cups as feelings describe different feelings.
