The Three of Cups as Feelings: Fond, Social and Possibly Not Romantic
The Three of Cups is three friends raising their cups. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why the group in the picture matters.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Three of Cups as feelings that are warm, glad and sociable. In a feelings position the card suggests the person enjoys you, feels at ease with you and likes being in your company, especially among others. It does not tell you the feeling is romantic. The card lives in a group, and the group is the clue.
This is a happy card and an ambiguous one in a love question. The person likes you. What kind of liking is the question the picture cannot answer.
The Three of Cups upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Three of Cups guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with celebration, friendship, community and creative collaboration. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Three of Cups as a person who feels genuine affection for you and shows it most naturally in company: the friend who always wants you at the table, the one who lights up when you walk into the room full of people. The feeling is real and it is comfortable, and comfortable is not always the same as attracted.
What I would not read into it is private longing. The Three of Cups is not a card of two people alone. If what you want is to be singled out, this card is telling you to look at whether the person ever does.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm romantic attraction, that the person's fondness is special to you rather than their way with friends, or that they have thought about you outside the group at all. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Three of Cups reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Three of Cups is often read as gossip, isolation, or a friendship that has soured. As feelings, I read the reversal as fondness that has been complicated by other people, a person who likes you and is being talked out of it, or as a social warmth that has cooled into exclusion.
In your own question, ask which fits. Has something shifted in the group around you both? Or has the person started leaving you out of the gatherings they used to include you in? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Three of Cups as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Three of Cups can suggest that they feel fondly toward you and would be glad to see you in company, as a friend, at a shared event. That is a kind feeling and it is often where exes who part well settle. It is rarely a wish to be two again. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Three of Cups as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card suggests they enjoy you and feel easy with you, which is a fine start and not yet an attraction. The test is whether they look for you when the group is not there. If they do, the feeling has moved to a different card.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for whether the warmth survives being alone together: do they seek you out one to one, or are you always part of a crowd? A Three of Cups feeling is visible in groups. If it vanishes when the group does, it was the group's feeling.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, how the person behaves with you in company, and how they behave with you alone. The difference between the second and third notes is the answer. Another draw will mostly reflect the same raised cups.
For comparison, the Two of Cups as feelings and the Six of Cups as feelings describe different feelings.
