The Two of Pentacles as Feelings: Juggling, Busy and Fitting You In
The Two of Pentacles dances while juggling two coins. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why you may be one of the coins.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Two of Pentacles as feelings that are real and divided. In a feelings position the card suggests the person feels something for you and is balancing it against something else, work, another obligation, another person, their own stability, keeping both in the air rather than setting either down. It does not tell you which coin they would keep. It tells you they are juggling.
This is a busy card about feelings and an honest one. The person has not dropped you. They have not caught you either.
The Two of Pentacles upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Two of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with balance, adaptability, juggling priorities and managing change. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Two of Pentacles as a person who likes you and whose life does not currently have a settled place for that: they fit you in, they are warm when they are present, and they are often not present. The feeling is sincere and it is competing for time, and time is where feeling either grows or starves.
What I would not read into it is a decision in your favour. The juggler keeps both coins moving. The card is honest that nothing has been chosen, and it is honest that the choosing is theirs.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm what the other coin is, that the person will ever set it down, or that you are the one they would keep. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Two of Pentacles reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Two of Pentacles is often read as overcommitment, disorganisation, or dropping something. As feelings, I read the reversal as a person who has dropped one coin, which may be you or the other thing, or as someone so overwhelmed that they cannot hold any feeling steadily at all.
In your own question, ask which fits. Has the person recently let something go and become more present with you? Or have they dropped you, quietly, under the weight of everything else? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Two of Pentacles as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Two of Pentacles can suggest that they still hold a feeling for you alongside their new life, keeping both in motion rather than choosing. That is not a return. People can juggle a feeling about an ex for years without it ever landing. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Two of Pentacles as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card describes someone who likes you and has a full, complicated life. Whether there is room for you is a practical question before it is an emotional one. Watch whether they make time, because time is the only coin that counts here.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for warmth in fragments: good when present, often absent, apologetic about the gaps. A Two of Pentacles feeling is visible as fitting you in. Whether it becomes more is visible as rearranging, and rearranging is a choice.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person seems to be balancing you against, and whether you can see any sign of them choosing. The third note is the honest one. Another draw will mostly reflect the same dancer.
For comparison, the Ten of Wands as feelings and the Seven of Cups as feelings describe different feelings.
