Judgement as How Someone Sees You: Someone They Have Reckoned With
Judgement as how someone sees you means they have looked back and decided. Here is what the picture includes, upright and reversed, and why it tends to mean contact.
If you want the short answer, Judgement as how someone sees you means they have reviewed you honestly: looked back over what has been between you, faced their own part, and arrived at a clear picture they intend to act on. It is a serious picture and a settled one. What the picture shows is not in the card, and Judgement is as capable of a clear-eyed goodbye as a clear-eyed return.
This is you as seen by the figure rising at the trumpet. They have looked at the whole thing. They know what they think now.
Judgement upright as how someone sees you
Tina Gong's Judgement guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with reflection, reckoning, awakening and a calling. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone sees you, I read those meanings as the image the person holds of you, which is not the same as who you are and not the same as what they feel. Judgement as feelings covers what they feel; Judgement as intentions covers what they plan. This page covers the picture. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.
Upright, I read Judgement as a person who sees you with the clarity of someone who has done the reckoning: without illusion, without the old resentment, with a conclusion. They may see you as someone they wronged and want to make it right with. They may see you as a chapter they have closed well. Either way, the picture is honest and it is about to become words.
What I would not read into it is comfort. Judgement is stark. The picture the person has reached may not be the one you want, and the card promises only that they will act on it.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm the verdict favours you, that the person's reckoning matches your memory, or that acting on the picture means coming toward you. No card lets a reader see inside another person's head. What a card can do is describe the kind of image that fits the person's behaviour toward you, and give you something to check against how they actually treat you.
Judgement reversed as how someone sees you
Reversed, Judgement as how someone sees you means the reckoning avoided or turned harsh: they will not look honestly at you or at themselves, or they judge you so severely that no fair picture can form, or they judge themselves too harshly to believe they are allowed to see you kindly.
In your own question, ask whether the person seems to be avoiding the honest look, or whether they seem to have condemned you or themselves beyond what happened. A reversed card here is a prompt to notice whether the picture the person holds has gone sour or gone wrong, not a verdict on you.
Judgement as how an ex sees you
Asked how an ex sees you, Judgement is one of the few cards I would read as a real likelihood of contact: they have reviewed the past, reached a conclusion about you, and feel called to say it. It may be an apology, a reopening or a final close. All three are Judgement, and the card does not rank them. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
Judgement as how a new person sees you
For someone new, this card means sudden clarity about you: they have realised you matter and see you with the seriousness of someone who has decided. It is a strong card for a beginning. Let them answer their own call.
How to check the picture against reality
Look for a decisive change: a long silence broken, a conversation clearly prepared for, a sense of a made-up mind. A Judgement picture arrives as an announcement. If nothing has been announced, the trumpet has not sounded yet.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person might have concluded about you, and what you want to say if they come to you with it. The third note is worth having ready.
For comparison, the Wheel of Fortune as how someone sees you and Death as how someone sees you describe different pictures. The Judgement card meaning page covers the card in full, and Judgement as a person covers the card when it describes a temperament rather than an image.
