The Page of Wands Yes or No: Yes, Something Is Starting

The Page of Wands is a yes with news in it. Here is how I read it for yes or no questions, upright and reversed, and why the reversal is about a false start.

If you want the short answer, the Page of Wands is a yes. In a yes or no draw the upright card says a new idea, an opportunity or a piece of good news is on its way and should be welcomed with enthusiasm. It is an eager yes and a young one.

This is a card of yes as a messenger with a sprouting staff. The news is good. The desert behind him is the rest of the story.

Is the Page of Wands a yes or a no?

Upright, I read the Page of Wands as a yes. Reversed, I read it as unclear, neither a clean yes nor a clean no. My free yes or no tarot draw uses the Major Arcana only, so if you want a quick draw, use that; these Minor Arcana values are the ones I apply when a full deck is in play.

Tina Gong's the Page of Wands guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with enthusiasm, exploration, a free spirit and a new message. Brigit Esselmont's yes or no tarot overview at Biddy Tarot notes that readers assign yes and no values differently, which is true, and it is why I state mine rather than pretend there is one correct table.

Why the upright card reads this way

I read the Page of Wands as yes because the card is about the first flicker of something: the Page gazing at the new leaves, the open landscape, the salamanders on his tunic. When a question is about whether to explore something, whether an opportunity is real, whether news is coming, the Page says yes.

The yes is to the beginning. Pages bring messages and openings. The Page of Wands says go and look; it does not say what you will find.

The Page of Wands reversed as yes or no

Reversed, I read the Page of Wands as unclear. The reversal describes bad news, a false start, or enthusiasm without any follow-through. The spark is there and it may not become anything.

If you drew the Page of Wands reversed, ask whether the thing you are asking about has substance behind the excitement. The card is not refusing it. It is warning that the excitement may be all there is.

The Page of Wands yes or no in a love question

In a love question, the Page of Wands is a yes to a flirtation becoming something, to a message from someone new, to a playful beginning. It is a weak card for commitment. Reversed, it describes a flirtation that fizzles and asks you not to build a future on a spark.

The Page of Wands yes or no for work and money

For work and money, the Page of Wands is a yes to a new idea, a creative opportunity, good news about a project, the chance to try something. Reversed, it suggests a plan that is all enthusiasm and no structure, and asks for one before you commit.

When a yes or no draw is the wrong tool

The Page of Wands answers questions about beginnings and news. It is a poor card for anything that needs persistence, which it answers with excitement that may not last. A single card answers a single, well-formed question. If the question is really three questions, or is about another person's choices, a yes or no draw will give you a confident answer to the wrong thing. My guide to a one question psychic reading explains how I handle questions that need more than one card.

What to record before drawing again

Keep three short notes: the exact question you asked, the opening or message the card may be describing, and what you would do in the first week after it arrives. The third note is the part the Page cannot do.

For comparison, the Ace of Wands yes or no and the Page of Cups yes or no answer differently. The the Page of Wands card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Page of Wands as timing and the Page of Wands as feelings cover the two other questions people most often ask of it.
