The Queen of Pentacles as Advice: Look After the Basics

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Queen of Pentacles as advice asks for practical nurture. Here is how, and what the reversal says about self-neglect.

If you want the short answer, the Queen of Pentacles as advice says: look after the basics. Your home, your body, your money and the people you love, practically and warmly.

What the Queen of Pentacles advises upright

Tina Gong's the Queen of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with nurturing, practicality, security and comfort. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Queen of Pentacles advises practical care: cook the good meal, sort the finances, make the space comfortable, help someone in a concrete way.

What the Queen of Pentacles is not asking you to do

The Queen is not asking you to look after everyone but yourself.

The Queen of Pentacles reversed as advice

Reversed, the Queen of Pentacles as advice says you are neglecting yourself or smothering others. Rebalance. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Queen of Pentacles as advice in love

In love, the Queen of Pentacles advises showing care through practical acts.

The Queen of Pentacles as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises sound financial habits and a comfortable working life. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Do one practical thing this week that makes your daily life easier, for yourself.

For comparison, the King of Pentacles as advice and the Empress as advice ask different things of you. The the Queen of Pentacles card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Queen of Pentacles as a yes or no, the Queen of Pentacles as feelings and the Queen of Pentacles as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
