The King of Pentacles as Advice: Build Security

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The King of Pentacles as advice asks you to build something that lasts. Here is how, and what the reversal warns against.

If you want the short answer, the King of Pentacles as advice says: build security. Make the sensible long-term choice, manage your resources well, and provide for what matters.

What the King of Pentacles advises upright

Tina Gong's the King of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with wealth, security, leadership and material success. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the King of Pentacles advises stewardship: plan financially, invest wisely, be generous from a stable base.

What the King of Pentacles is not asking you to do

The King is not asking you to make money the whole point.

The King of Pentacles reversed as advice

Reversed, the King of Pentacles as advice says check whether you are being controlling with money, or neglecting security altogether. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The King of Pentacles as advice in love

In love, the King of Pentacles advises reliability and practical generosity.

The King of Pentacles as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises long-term financial planning and solid business decisions. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Review one financial habit this week and make one change that improves your long-term security.

For comparison, the Queen of Pentacles as advice and the Emperor as advice ask different things of you. The the King of Pentacles card meaning page covers the card in full, and the King of Pentacles as a yes or no, the King of Pentacles as feelings and the King of Pentacles as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
