Strength Yes or No: Yes, Gently
Strength is a yes that works by patience rather than pressure. Here is how I read it for yes or no questions, upright and reversed, and why the reversal goes unclear.
If you want the short answer, Strength is a yes. In a yes or no draw the upright card says quiet courage and patience are stronger here than pressure, and that the thing you are asking about yields to the gentle hand. It is a yes with a method attached, and the method is the opposite of forcing.
This is a card of yes as steadiness. The lion's mouth is being closed by hands, not by a sword.
Is Strength a yes or a no?
Upright, I read Strength as a yes. Reversed, I read it as unclear, neither a clean yes nor a clean no. Those are the same directions my free yes or no tarot draw uses, so if you drew the card there, this page explains the answer it gave you.
Tina Gong's Strength guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with courage, compassion, inner strength and patience. Brigit Esselmont's yes or no tarot overview at Biddy Tarot notes that readers assign yes and no values differently, which is true, and it is why I state mine rather than pretend there is one correct table.
Why the upright card reads this way
I read Strength as yes because the card shows a difficult thing being managed successfully: the lion is not killed, not fled from, not fought, but calmed. When a question is about whether something hard can be handled, Strength says yes, by staying steady.
The yes depends on temperament. If the question would be approached with force, Strength is quietly saying that the force is the problem, and the yes belongs to a gentler version of you.
Strength reversed as yes or no
Reversed, I read Strength as unclear. The reversal usually describes self-doubt or emotional strain shaping the answer more than the situation itself: the lion is not the problem, the shaking hands are.
If you drew Strength reversed, the useful question is not about the situation but about your state. Steady yourself first, by whatever means actually work for you, and the card tends to turn upright when you draw again from calmer ground.
Strength yes or no in a love question
In a love question, Strength is a yes to patience with a difficult person or a difficult phase, to handling conflict with gentleness, to a relationship that can be held through strain. It is not a yes to tolerating harm, which is a different thing wearing patience's clothes. Reversed, it asks whether your own fear or insecurity is the thing making the answer unclear.
Strength yes or no for work and money
For work and money, Strength is a yes to the long, steady effort and the difficult colleague handled with grace. It is a no, by implication, to the dramatic confrontation. Reversed, it suggests the obstacle is your confidence rather than the task.
When a yes or no draw is the wrong tool
Strength answers questions about handling difficulty. It is a poor card for questions that need a quick, decisive outcome, and it will give a patient yes to situations that actually need a firm no, so pair it with your own judgment about what is being tolerated. A single card answers a single, well-formed question. If the question is really three questions, or is about another person's choices, a yes or no draw will give you a confident answer to the wrong thing. My guide to a one question psychic reading explains how I handle questions that need more than one card.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the exact question you asked, the lion in the situation named plainly, and whether you are approaching it with your hands or with a weapon. The third note is the whole method of the card.
For comparison, the Chariot yes or no and Temperance yes or no answer differently. The Strength card meaning page covers the card in full, and Strength as timing and Strength as feelings cover the two other questions people most often ask of it.
