Temperance as Feelings: Balanced, Patient and Blending Slowly
Temperance pours water between two cups with one foot in the stream. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why slow blending is the point.
If you want the short answer, I would read Temperance as feelings that are balanced, moderate and patiently growing. In a feelings position the card suggests the person feels a calm, steady affection for you and is letting it find its level rather than forcing it. It does not tell you the feeling is intense. It tells you it is being mixed with care.
This is a card of feeling as a process. It describes someone who is blending what they feel for you into their life a little at a time, which is slow and which tends to hold.
Temperance upright as feelings
Tina Gong's Temperance guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with balance, moderation, patience and purpose. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read Temperance as a person whose feeling for you is warm, even and unhurried: they are not swept away and they are not holding back, they are letting it develop at a pace that keeps everything in balance. It can read as lukewarm to someone hoping for fire. It is not. It is a feeling that has decided to be sustainable.
What I would not read into it is drama of any kind. Temperance does not spill. If you want to be overwhelmed, this card is telling you the person will not do that to you, or to themselves.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm that the feeling will intensify, that the person wants more than a balanced friendship, or that their patience is not simply caution. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
Temperance reversed as feelings
Reversed, Temperance is often read as imbalance, excess, or a lack of harmony. As feelings, I read the reversal as a person whose feeling for you has lost its balance, too much one week and nothing the next, or as someone who cannot fit you into their life without something else overflowing.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the person's warmth come in surges and droughts? Or do they seem unable to blend you into the rest of what they have? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
Temperance as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, Temperance can suggest that their feelings have settled into something balanced and calm, possibly fond, possibly simply at peace. It is a healthy card about an ex and a quiet one. It does not usually describe a wish to return, and when it does, the return is measured rather than passionate. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
Temperance as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card describes an even, patient interest from someone who wants whatever this is to be sustainable. Match the pace. Temperance responds to steadiness and is put off by intensity it did not ask for.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for consistency and proportion: they are the same warmth on Monday as on Saturday, they integrate you into their life gradually, they do not make promises faster than they can keep them. A Temperance feeling is visible in its evenness. Spikes are a different card.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, how even the person's warmth has been over the last month, and whether an even, slow feeling is one you can be happy with. The third note is honest about you. Another draw will mostly reflect the same figure at the same stream.
For comparison, Strength as feelings and the Star as feelings describe different feelings.
