The Ten of Pentacles as Feelings: Long-Term, Family and Building a Life
The Ten of Pentacles is the old man, the couple, the child and the dogs under an archway. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why it is more serious than romantic.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Ten of Pentacles as feelings that are serious, settled and long-term. In a feelings position the card suggests the person thinks of you in terms of a shared life: family, security, a home, the years ahead. It does not tell you the feeling is passionate. It tells you it is structural, which for some people is the most romantic thing there is.
This is one of the most committed cards in the deck as feelings, and one of the least dramatic. The person is not thinking about tonight. They are thinking about the archway.
The Ten of Pentacles upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Ten of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with legacy, wealth, family and long-term security. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Ten of Pentacles as a person who sees you as someone to build with: they imagine you in their family, their future, their practical life. The feeling is deep and quiet and it expresses itself through planning and providing rather than through declarations.
What I would not read into it is spontaneity or heat. The Ten of Pentacles loves like a foundation loves a house. If you need the other kind as well, ask for it; this card will not think to offer it unprompted.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm that the person has told you any of this, that their idea of a shared life matches yours, or that family approval, which this card often involves, is on your side. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Ten of Pentacles reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Ten of Pentacles is often read as family conflict, financial instability, or a legacy that burdens. As feelings, I read the reversal as a person whose feeling for you is caught up in family disapproval or practical obstacles, or as someone who wants the stable picture and does not quite see you in it.
In your own question, ask which fits. Is there a family or a practical situation standing between the person's feeling and their action? Or do they want the archway and are not sure you are the one standing under it? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Ten of Pentacles as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Ten of Pentacles can suggest that they still think of you in terms of the life you might have built, or that family ties keep you in their picture. That is often a feeling about the structure rather than the person. Occasionally it is a sign that they want to try to build again, properly this time. Their actions, not the card, will tell you. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Ten of Pentacles as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this is an unusually serious card: they are already thinking of you as someone who might belong in their long-term life. It can feel fast. It tends to be sincere. Let them show you the practical ways they mean it before you decide whether you want to be built with.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for inclusion in the structure: they introduce you to family, they talk about the future in concrete terms, they plan with you rather than around you. A Ten of Pentacles feeling is visible in what the person builds. If nothing is being built, read the reversal.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, how far you have been brought into the person's practical life and family, and whether a structural kind of love is one you want. The third note is honest about you. Another draw will mostly reflect the same family under the same archway.
For comparison, the Ten of Cups as feelings and the King of Pentacles as feelings describe different feelings.
