The Fool as Feelings: Open, Excited and Not Thinking Ahead
The Fool steps toward the cliff edge with a small dog at his heels. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why the lack of a plan is the feeling.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Fool as feelings that are fresh, open and unplanned. In a feelings position the card suggests the person feels excited about you, curious and willing, without having thought much about where it goes. It does not tell you they will think about it. The Fool is looking at the sky, not the path.
This is a hopeful card and an unserious one, in the best sense. The feeling is real. The future is not yet a thing the person is considering.
The Fool upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Fool guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with beginnings, innocence, spontaneity and a free spirit. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Fool as a person who feels a light, glad attraction to you and is happy to see what happens. There is no agenda and no fear. There is also no plan, and if you are hoping for one, this card is telling you it is not there yet.
What I would not read into it is depth or commitment. The Fool is the start of the whole deck. Everything that follows is possible and none of it has happened.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm that the person wants a relationship, that their openness is exclusive to you, or that they will still feel this once the first step has consequences. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Fool reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Fool is often read as recklessness, naivety, or a fear of taking the leap. As feelings, I read the reversal as a person who feels the pull and will not step, or who steps carelessly and leaves you to deal with the fall.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the person seem interested and frozen at the edge? Or do they leap into things with you and out again without noticing the cost? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Fool as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Fool can suggest a wish to start again as if nothing had happened, light and hopeful and without much reckoning. That can be charming and it can be a sign that nothing was learned. The card does not say which. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Fool as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card is a cheerful beginning: they like you, they are open, and they are not weighing it down with expectation. Meet them there. Asking the Fool where this is going tends to send him off the cliff in the other direction.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for lightness and willingness: they say yes to things, they are easy company, they do not play games because it has not occurred to them to. A Fool feeling is uncomplicated. Complication, when it arrives, is a different card.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, how the person has shown openness, and whether you can enjoy a beginning without needing it to be a middle. The third note is the honest one. Another draw will mostly reflect the same figure at the same edge.
For comparison, the Hermit as feelings and the Page of Cups as feelings describe different feelings.
