The Fool as How Someone Sees You: Free, Fun and Not Someone to Plan Around

The Fool as how someone sees you means they see the figure at the cliff edge. Here is what the picture includes, upright and reversed, and what it leaves out.

If you want the short answer, the Fool as how someone sees you means they see you as free: spontaneous, open, unburdened, a breath of air in a life that had too many plans. It is a fond picture and a light one. The person enjoys you and does not yet think of you as someone to rely on, because the Fool is a beginning in their eyes and beginnings are not relied on.

This is you as the figure stepping off the cliff with the little dog barking. They see the leap. They have not thought about whether you land.

The Fool upright as how someone sees you

Tina Gong's the Fool guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with beginnings, innocence, spontaneity and a free spirit. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone sees you, I read those meanings as the image the person holds of you, which is not the same as who you are and not the same as what they feel. the Fool as feelings covers what they feel; the Fool as intentions covers what they plan. This page covers the picture. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, I read the Fool as a person who sees you as refreshing: unafraid, curious, easy to be around, someone who says yes. They like how you make things feel possible. In the upright card the liking is real, and it is the liking of someone who has not yet asked what you would be like in a crisis.

What I would not read into it is depth of trust. The Fool is seen for the lightness. The picture may not include the possibility that you could be serious.

What the card does not tell you

The card does not confirm the person sees you as a partner rather than an adventure, that they take you seriously, or that the picture would survive your needing something from them. No card lets a reader see inside another person's head. What a card can do is describe the kind of image that fits the person's behaviour toward you, and give you something to check against how they actually treat you.

The Fool reversed as how someone sees you

Reversed, the Fool as how someone sees you means the picture has gone from free to reckless: they see you as irresponsible, naive, careless with people, someone who leaps and leaves others to catch the pieces. The freedom they enjoyed has started to look like immaturity to them.

In your own question, ask whether the person has lately seemed wary of your spontaneity, or whether they have said anything about you not thinking things through. A reversed card here is a prompt to notice whether the picture the person holds has gone sour or gone wrong, not a verdict on you.

The Fool as how an ex sees you

Asked how an ex sees you, the Fool suggests they remember you as fun, free and not quite grown up, the adventure rather than the home. It is a fond memory and a slightly dismissive one. It rarely pulls anyone back on its own. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.

The Fool as how a new person sees you

For someone new, this card means they find you refreshing and are enjoying the beginning. Let them see you keep a promise and the picture gains a floor.

How to check the picture against reality

Look at whether the person brings you into things that need reliability or only things that need fun. Look at whether they ask your advice. A Fool picture is enjoyable and light; the way to deepen it is to be the one who shows up.

What to record before drawing again

Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person seems to enjoy about you, and whether they have ever relied on you for anything. The third note is the gap in the picture.

For comparison, the Page of Wands as how someone sees you and the Hermit as how someone sees you describe different pictures. The the Fool card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Fool as a person covers the card when it describes a temperament rather than an image.
