The Tower as How Someone Sees You: The Thing That Changed Everything

The Tower as how someone sees you means you are the lightning. Here is what the picture includes, upright and reversed, and what it looks like once the dust settles.

If you want the short answer, the Tower as how someone sees you means they see you as the thing that broke something open: a shock, a revelation, the person who brought down a structure they had been living in. It is an intense picture and an unsettled one. Some of the strongest loves start here. So do some of the hardest grudges, and the person has not yet decided which this is.

This is you as the lightning that struck the tower. They see the collapse. They are still falling, and they have not decided whose fault the fall is.

The Tower upright as how someone sees you

Tina Gong's the Tower guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with sudden upheaval, revelation, chaos and awakening. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone sees you, I read those meanings as the image the person holds of you, which is not the same as who you are and not the same as what they feel. the Tower as feelings covers what they feel; the Tower as intentions covers what they plan. This page covers the picture. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, I read the Tower as a person who sees you as a force: someone who changed their life suddenly, who showed them something they could not unsee, who they associate with the moment everything shifted. The picture is vivid and raw. In the upright card the rawness is honest, and the person is often as grateful as they are shaken.

What I would not read into it is stability. Whatever the person sees in you, they are standing in rubble, and pictures formed in the Tower tend to be revised once the dust settles.

What the card does not tell you

The card does not confirm the person blames you for the collapse, that the picture is bad, or that what fell will not be rebuilt with you in it. No card lets a reader see inside another person's head. What a card can do is describe the kind of image that fits the person's behaviour toward you, and give you something to check against how they actually treat you.

The Tower reversed as how someone sees you

Reversed, the Tower as how someone sees you means the picture is being propped up: they see you as something they refuse to let shake them, or they have narrowly avoided seeing you clearly and are keeping the old tower standing on purpose. The lightning is still in the sky.

In your own question, ask whether the person seems to be clinging to how they saw you before, or whether a shock has been narrowly avoided and left them wary of you. A reversed card here is a prompt to notice whether the picture the person holds has gone sour or gone wrong, not a verdict on you.

The Tower as how an ex sees you

Asked how an ex sees you, the Tower suggests you are the earthquake in their story: the person who ended something, or revealed something, or arrived and changed everything. The picture is powerful and it is not stable. People in the Tower reach for whatever is nearest, and the reaching settles into something else once they are back on the ground. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.

The Tower as how a new person sees you

For someone new, this card means you have hit them hard and fast, sometimes against their plans. That can be the beginning of something intense and real. It can also be a person who is not ready and knows it. Give the dust time to settle before you build on the picture.

How to check the picture against reality

Look for visible disruption: they are not themselves around you, they say things they would not normally say, they seem thrown. A Tower picture looks like someone whose composure has gone. What they see in the first calm week afterward tells you far more.

What to record before drawing again

Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person believed that you seem to have shaken, and what you need them to see once the shaking stops. The third note is your protection.

For comparison, Death as how someone sees you and the Devil as how someone sees you describe different pictures. The the Tower card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Tower as a person covers the card when it describes a temperament rather than an image.
