The Two of Swords as an Outcome: A Stalemate

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Two of Swords as an outcome is a choice held at arm's length. Here is what it means and how to break the deadlock.

The Two of Swords as an outcome is a stalemate. The situation is heading toward a decision that has been avoided, and the blindfold has to come off.

What the Two of Swords means as an outcome upright

Tina Gong's the Two of Swords guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with difficult decisions, weighing up options, an impasse and avoidance. In the outcome position I read those meanings as the likely direction of the situation if things carry on as they are now. An outcome card is not a fixed sentence. It shows where the current road leads, and roads can be changed. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Two of Swords shows the outcome stuck between two options. Nothing moves until you choose. More information helps.

The Two of Swords reversed as an outcome

Reversed, the Two of Swords as an outcome points to the deadlock breaking, sometimes because the choice is made for you.

The Two of Swords as a love outcome

As a love outcome, the Two of Swords points to indecision about a relationship or feelings kept guarded.

The Two of Swords as an outcome for work and money

For work and money, the Two of Swords as an outcome warns against delaying a needed decision. A card can describe a direction; for decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take advice from someone qualified as well.

What helps this outcome along

Honesty with yourself helps this outcome. Take off the blindfold and look.

For comparison, the Ace of Swords as an outcome and the Seven of Cups as an outcome point somewhere different. The the Two of Swords card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Two of Swords as advice, the Two of Swords as feelings and the Two of Swords as a yes or no cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
