What to Ask a Psychic — Questions That Actually Get You Answers

The questions you bring to a reading shape everything you get back. Here is what to ask, what to avoid, and how to make the most of your time with a psychic.

Most people come to their first reading with one big question burning in their chest and a few smaller ones hovering behind it. That is completely natural. But the way you frame what you are asking makes a real difference to what comes through, and a lot of people do not know that going in.

I have been doing readings for a long time. I am a fourth generation Romani psychic and medium from Ireland, and I have read for thousands of people across every kind of situation you can imagine. Here is what I have learned about the questions that open a reading up and the ones that tend to close it down.

Questions that work well

Open questions about energy and direction

"What does the energy around my relationship look like right now?" will get you far more than "is he going to text me this week?" The first question invites me to read the whole field. The second pins me to a prediction that may or may not land depending on factors neither of us can control.

Open questions give me room to tell you what I am actually seeing, which is often more useful than the narrow answer you thought you wanted.

Questions about what you should know

"Is there anything around this situation I am not seeing?" is one of the most powerful questions you can ask. Sometimes the most important information in a reading is the thing the client did not think to ask about. When you invite that in, it almost always shows up.

Questions about your own energy

"What is my energy doing in this situation?" is a question that puts you back in the centre of your own reading. I can see what you are putting out and how it is affecting what you are drawing in. That is often the most actionable information I can give you, because it is something you can actually do something about.

Questions that are harder to read accurately

Very specific timing questions

"When exactly will this happen?" is the question I get asked most often and the one that is genuinely the hardest to answer with precision. Time in a reading is fluid. I can usually tell you whether something feels close, whether the energy is building or has stalled, and what conditions need to be in place for something to move. But "exactly when" is something even the most experienced psychic will struggle to pin down consistently.

That does not mean timing is off the table. It means asking "does this feel close or far away?" will often get you a more honest and useful answer than asking for a specific date.

Yes or no questions

"Will I get the job?" wants a yes or a no, but what I see is energy, probability, conditions. A more useful version of that question is "what does the energy around this opportunity look like, and what could I do to strengthen it?" That gives you something to work with whatever the outcome.

What not to ask

Do not ask questions designed to test me. I understand the impulse, especially if you have had a bad experience with someone who was not genuine. But testing creates a closed energetic field and you will almost always get a flatter reading as a result. If you are not sure whether you trust the person you are reading with, that is worth sitting with before you book.

Do not ask questions about other people's private thoughts or decisions on their behalf. "What is my ex thinking?" is something I can pick up energy around. "What is my neighbour planning to do with her will?" is not something I will read into. A genuine psychic works with what is meant to come through, not with whatever you happen to want to know.

How to prepare your questions before a reading

Write them down. Not in a rigid list, but as a loose set of the things that are actually on your mind. Do not edit yourself into asking something more "acceptable" than what you really want to know. The real question is usually the one you almost did not ask.

Bring your main question and two or three secondary ones. In an email reading with me, you have the space to lay out everything clearly, and I will work through what comes through for each area you have flagged.

One more thing

The best readings I give are the ones where the person comes in genuinely open. Not without questions, but without a fixed idea of what the answer has to be. The energy reads cleanest when you are curious rather than hoping I will confirm something you have already decided.

If you want to know what I see around your situation, I am here. My readings are written personally, delivered by email within 48 hours, and I always work through the specific questions you bring.
