The Five of Pentacles as Advice: Ask for Help

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Five of Pentacles as advice asks you to knock on the lit door. Here is how, and what the reversal says.

If you want the short answer, the Five of Pentacles as advice says: ask for help. The lit window is right beside you; go in.

What the Five of Pentacles advises upright

Tina Gong's the Five of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with need, poverty, insecurity and isolation. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Five of Pentacles advises seeking support: a debt adviser, a doctor, a friend, the service designed for exactly this.

What the Five of Pentacles is not asking you to do

The Five is not asking you to be ashamed.

The Five of Pentacles reversed as advice

Reversed, the Five of Pentacles as advice says recovery is beginning. Keep accepting help. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Five of Pentacles as advice in love

In love, the Five of Pentacles advises letting someone in during a hard time.

The Five of Pentacles as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises getting proper advice on money trouble. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

For comparison, the Six of Pentacles as advice and the Star as advice ask different things of you. The the Five of Pentacles card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Five of Pentacles as a yes or no, the Five of Pentacles as feelings and the Five of Pentacles as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
