The Six of Pentacles as Advice: Give and Receive Fairly

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Six of Pentacles as advice asks you to check the scales. Here is how, and what the reversal says.

If you want the short answer, the Six of Pentacles as advice says: give and receive fairly. Be generous where you can, accept help where you need it, and keep the balance honest.

What the Six of Pentacles advises upright

Tina Gong's the Six of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with generosity, charity, giving and receiving and balance. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Six of Pentacles advises fair exchange: share what you have, ask for what you need, and notice the balance.

What the Six of Pentacles is not asking you to do

The Six is not asking you to give until you have nothing.

The Six of Pentacles reversed as advice

Reversed, the Six of Pentacles as advice says look for strings attached, yours or theirs. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Six of Pentacles as advice in love

In love, the Six of Pentacles advises a relationship where both people give.

The Six of Pentacles as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises fair deals and sensible generosity. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Give one thing freely this week, and accept one thing gracefully.

For comparison, the Five of Pentacles as advice and Justice as advice ask different things of you. The the Six of Pentacles card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Six of Pentacles as a yes or no, the Six of Pentacles as feelings and the Six of Pentacles as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it. For a personal interpretation, my guide to an online psychic reading explains how readings work, and the three-card tarot listing and customer reviews are worth reading before deciding whether to order.
