The Four of Wands as Feelings: Glad, Celebratory and Ready to Show You Off
The Four of Wands is the garland strung between four poles with figures celebrating. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why it is a card about welcome.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Four of Wands as feelings that are happy, open and welcoming. In a feelings position the card suggests the person feels glad about you, wants to bring you into their life and their circle, and sees you as something to celebrate. It does not tell you the feeling is deep yet. It tells you it is public, and public is a commitment of its own.
This is a cheerful card and an honest one about intention. People do not hang garlands for someone they mean to hide.
The Four of Wands upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Four of Wands guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with celebration, homecoming, harmony and community. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Four of Wands as a person who is happy about you in a way they are willing to show: they want you at the party, they want their people to meet you, they feel a sense of homecoming when you are around. The feeling is warm and it has a place in it for you.
What I would not read into it is intensity or finality. The Four of Wands is a milestone, not the whole road. It says you are welcome. It does not say for how long.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm long-term commitment, that the welcome is romantic rather than warmly inclusive, or that the celebration will survive ordinary days. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Four of Wands reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Four of Wands is often read as instability at home, a cancelled celebration, or a lack of harmony. As feelings, I read the reversal as a person who feels warmly toward you and cannot or will not make it public, or as a welcome that has been withdrawn because something at home has gone wrong.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the person keep you separate from their life while being warm in private? Or has something in their home or family made the garlands come down? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Four of Wands as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Four of Wands can suggest that they remember you as part of a happy time and would welcome you warmly if you met. It can also, less often, describe a wish to bring you home again. The first is far more common, and the difference is whether they do anything about it. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Four of Wands as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this is a lovely card: they are glad about you and want to show you to their world. Accept the invitations. How you are received by their people, and how they behave when you are among them, tells you what kind of welcome it is.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for inclusion and visible gladness: invitations to things that matter, introductions, a sense of being brought in rather than kept to one side. A Four of Wands feeling is seen in the open. If the person is warm in private and absent in public, read the reversal.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, who the person has introduced you to and what they have invited you into, and whether the welcome has been steady or occasional. The second note is the garland. Another draw will mostly reflect the same four poles.
For comparison, the Three of Cups as feelings and the Sun as feelings describe different feelings.
