Justice Yes or No: Yes, If the Facts Support It
Justice is a yes that depends on what the scales show. Here is how I read it for yes or no questions, upright and reversed, and why the reversal is a no about accountability.
If you want the short answer, Justice is a yes. In a yes or no draw the upright card says a fair result is possible when the facts and responsibilities are faced clearly. It is a yes on the merits, and it is only as warm as the merits are.
This is a card of yes as fairness. The scales are level. The sword is upright. Nothing is being hidden from the weighing.
Is Justice a yes or a no?
Upright, I read Justice as a yes. Reversed, I read it as a no. Those are the same directions my free yes or no tarot draw uses, so if you drew the card there, this page explains the answer it gave you.
Tina Gong's Justice guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with fairness, truth, cause and effect and law. Brigit Esselmont's yes or no tarot overview at Biddy Tarot notes that readers assign yes and no values differently, which is true, and it is why I state mine rather than pretend there is one correct table.
Why the upright card reads this way
I read Justice as yes because the card describes a situation that can be resolved correctly: the facts are in, the scales can balance, the decision can be made and stand. When a question is about whether a fair outcome is available, Justice says it is, to those who face the facts.
The yes has a sting. Justice gives a yes to what is deserved, and if the honest answer is that what you are asking for is not deserved, the card is yes to the fair result and not to your wish.
Justice reversed as yes or no
Reversed, I read Justice as a no. The reversal describes something unequal, unclear or avoiding accountability: a situation where the facts are being dodged, or where the outcome cannot be fair because someone will not own their part.
If you drew Justice reversed, ask who is avoiding responsibility in the situation, and be willing for the answer to be you. The no lifts when the accounting is done honestly.
Justice yes or no in a love question
In a love question, Justice is a yes to a relationship built on honesty and fairness, and to an outcome that matches what each person has put in. It is a demanding yes. Reversed, it is a no to a relationship where one person is being blamed for everything, or where something unfair has not been faced, and a prompt to face it.
Justice yes or no for work and money
For work and money, Justice is one of the better cards for legal questions, contracts, disputes and anything decided on the merits: a yes to the fair result. It is also a card for debts and settlements. Reversed, it is a no to a deal that is not even, and a warning that something in the paperwork or the conduct will not survive scrutiny.
When a yes or no draw is the wrong tool
Justice answers questions about fairness and consequence. It will not give you a yes to something you have not earned, and it is a poor card for questions about mercy, luck or feeling. A single card answers a single, well-formed question. If the question is really three questions, or is about another person's choices, a yes or no draw will give you a confident answer to the wrong thing. My guide to a one question psychic reading explains how I handle questions that need more than one card.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the exact question you asked, what the facts show when written plainly, and your own part in how things stand. The third note is where the reversal hides and where the upright yes is earned.
For comparison, the Emperor yes or no and Judgement yes or no answer differently. The Justice card meaning page covers the card in full, and Justice as timing and Justice as feelings cover the two other questions people most often ask of it.
