The Page of Swords as Intentions: To Find Out More Before Deciding

The Page of Swords as intentions is a plan to find out what you are before deciding what to do. Here is what I would read in it, upright and reversed.

If you want the short answer, I would read the Page of Swords as intentions that are curious and undecided. In an intentions position the card suggests the person means to learn more about you, to watch, to ask, to test ideas, before committing to any plan. The intention is to investigate. Nothing has been decided, and the Page intends to keep it that way until the facts are in.

This is the Page in the wind with the sword raised, looking over one shoulder. They intend to find out. They do not yet intend anything else.

The Page of Swords upright as intentions

Tina Gong's the Page of Swords guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with curiosity, new ideas, vigilance and mental energy. When the card lands in a position that asks what someone intends toward you, I read those meanings as the shape of their plan rather than as a promise about what they will do. Feelings and intentions are different questions; the Page of Swords as feelings covers the first, and this page covers the second. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, I read the Page of Swords as a person whose intention toward you is mental: to understand you, to work out what you are to them, to gather enough to decide. They may ask a lot of questions. They may watch more than they speak. They are not being cold. They are being careful, in the Swords way.

What I would not read into it is warmth of plan. The Page of Swords intends to know. Whether knowing leads to anything warmer is a later card.

What the card does not tell you

The card does not confirm that the person's curiosity is romantic, that it will become a plan, or that what they learn will please them. No card lets a reader see another person's plans. What a card can do is describe the kind of intention that fits the person's behaviour, and give you something to check against what they actually do.

The Page of Swords reversed as intentions

Reversed, the Page of Swords as intentions describes investigation gone wrong: an intention to gossip, to spy, to test you unfairly, to gather information to use rather than to understand. It can also describe someone whose intentions are scattered, who means to find out and never settles on a question.

In your own question, ask whether the person's questions feel like interest or like interrogation, and whether they talk about you to others more than to you. A reversed card as intentions is a prompt to compare what is said with what is done, not a diagnosis of bad faith.

The Page of Swords as an ex's intentions

Asked about an ex, the Page of Swords as intentions can suggest they mean to check on you, to watch from a distance, to find out how you are without saying so. That is attention, not a plan to return. Exes who look are not always exes who intend anything. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.

The Page of Swords as a new person's intentions

For someone new, this card describes someone who intends to learn about you before showing their hand. Be worth the study and be honest. The Page of Swords intends something warmer once what they learn is better than they expected.

What their intentions look like in action

Look for questions and observation: they ask about your life, they remember details, they watch how you handle things. A Page of Swords intention is visible as attention without declaration. If the attention never becomes a decision, that is the answer.

What to record before drawing again

Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person seems to be trying to find out, and whether their curiosity has any warmth in it yet. The third note separates interest from intention.

For comparison, the Page of Wands as intentions and the Knight of Swords as intentions describe different intentions. The the Page of Swords card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Page of Swords as a person and the Page of Swords as a yes or no cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
