The Six of Wands as Intentions: To Be Seen With You, and to Win You

The Six of Wands as intentions is a plan with a crowd watching. Here is what I would read in it, upright and reversed, and why the quiet room matters more.

If you want the short answer, I would read the Six of Wands as intentions that are confident, public and aimed at success. In an intentions position the card suggests the person means to win you, or to be seen to have won you: to pursue openly, to be proud of the result, to ride through the crowd with you on the wreath. The intention is flattering. Whether it is about you or about the crowd is the thing to check.

This is the rider with the laurel through the cheering crowd. They intend a victory. They intend it to be witnessed.

The Six of Wands upright as intentions

Tina Gong's the Six of Wands guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with victory, success, public recognition and progress. When the card lands in a position that asks what someone intends toward you, I read those meanings as the shape of their plan rather than as a promise about what they will do. Feelings and intentions are different questions; the Six of Wands as feelings covers the first, and this page covers the second. The general card meanings at Biddy Tarot are a useful second reference.

Upright, I read the Six of Wands as a person who intends to succeed with you and to show it: to pursue with confidence, to introduce you proudly, to make the relationship a visible success. It is a strong intention and an outward one. The private version of it is for you to look for.

What I would not read into it is depth of intention. The Six of Wands intends the parade. What the person intends when the crowd goes home is not drawn in the picture.

What the card does not tell you

The card does not confirm the person's pride would survive your being less impressive, that the public warmth matches the private, or that they want you for yourself rather than for what you signal. No card lets a reader see another person's plans. What a card can do is describe the kind of intention that fits the person's behaviour, and give you something to check against what they actually do.

The Six of Wands reversed as intentions

Reversed, the Six of Wands as intentions describes pursuit that is really about image: a person who intends to have you as a trophy, whose interest rises and falls with how you reflect on them, or who intends to win and loses interest once they have. It can also describe someone who values you and intends to keep you hidden, for reasons of their own.

In your own question, ask whether the person's interest tracks how you reflect on them, or whether they clearly value you and oddly keep you out of sight. A reversed card as intentions is a prompt to compare what is said with what is done, not a diagnosis of bad faith.

The Six of Wands as an ex's intentions

Asked about an ex, the Six of Wands as intentions can suggest they remember you as a success and intend goodwill, or occasionally that they intend to be seen with you again, which is a public wish and not always a private one. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.

The Six of Wands as a new person's intentions

For someone new, this card suggests they intend to pursue you confidently and are pleased to be seen doing it. Enjoy being chosen. Notice whether the person intends you in a quiet room as much as in a full one.

What their intentions look like in action

Look for public pursuit: open interest, introductions, pride in being with you. A Six of Wands intention is visible in company. Its depth is visible only in private, so look there too.

What to record before drawing again

Keep three short notes: the question you asked, how the person pursues you in public, and how they are with you alone. The difference between the second and third notes is the thing to understand.

For comparison, the Four of Wands as intentions and the Chariot as intentions describe different intentions. The the Six of Wands card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Six of Wands as timing and the Six of Wands as a yes or no cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
