The Ten of Pentacles Yes or No: Yes, for the Long Term
The Ten of Pentacles is the most settled yes in the Pentacles. Here is how I read it for yes or no questions, upright and reversed, and why the reversal is a no about family or finances.
If you want the short answer, the Ten of Pentacles is a yes. In a yes or no draw the upright card says the thing you are asking about leads to lasting security, family stability and wealth that endures. It is a yes about the long term, and it is as solid as the archway in the picture.
This is a card of yes as three generations under one roof with the dogs at their feet. Nothing here is temporary.
Is the Ten of Pentacles a yes or a no?
Upright, I read the Ten of Pentacles as a yes. Reversed, I read it as a no. My free yes or no tarot draw uses the Major Arcana only, so if you want a quick draw, use that; these Minor Arcana values are the ones I apply when a full deck is in play.
Tina Gong's the Ten of Pentacles guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with legacy, wealth, family and long-term security. Brigit Esselmont's yes or no tarot overview at Biddy Tarot notes that readers assign yes and no values differently, which is true, and it is why I state mine rather than pretend there is one correct table.
Why the upright card reads this way
I read the Ten of Pentacles as yes because the card is material completion: the old man, the couple, the child, the ten coins arranged like a tree of life over the whole scene. When a question is about whether something will last, whether a family matter will resolve well, whether property or inheritance will come through, the Ten says yes.
The yes is structural and slow. The Ten of Pentacles does not describe a windfall. It describes something built over years and passed on, and if the question was about tomorrow, the card is answering about a decade.
The Ten of Pentacles reversed as yes or no
Reversed, I read the Ten of Pentacles as a no. The reversal describes family conflict, financial instability, an inheritance disputed, or a legacy that burdens rather than supports.
If you drew the Ten of Pentacles reversed, look at the family or the finances behind the question. The no is about the foundation, and it stands until the foundation is repaired.
The Ten of Pentacles yes or no in a love question
In a love question, the Ten of Pentacles is a yes to marriage, family, a shared home, a relationship that becomes part of a larger life and is approved by the people around it. It is one of the best cards for "will this last". Reversed, it is a no to a relationship that family or money is pulling apart.
The Ten of Pentacles yes or no for work and money
For work and money, the Ten of Pentacles is a strong yes to property, long-term investments, family business, pensions, inheritance and anything built to last. Reversed, it is a no to a financial arrangement that is less stable than it looks, and a warning about disputes over money within a family.
When a yes or no draw is the wrong tool
The Ten of Pentacles answers questions about lasting security. It is a poor card for anything new, fast or independent, which it answers by describing an old family under an old arch. A single card answers a single, well-formed question. If the question is really three questions, or is about another person's choices, a yes or no draw will give you a confident answer to the wrong thing. My guide to a one question psychic reading explains how I handle questions that need more than one card.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the exact question you asked, whether it was about the long term or the short, and what family or financial foundation the outcome rests on. The third note is where the reversal would be.
For comparison, the Nine of Pentacles yes or no and the Ten of Cups yes or no answer differently. The the Ten of Pentacles card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Ten of Pentacles as timing and the Ten of Pentacles as feelings cover the two other questions people most often ask of it.
