The Hermit as an Outcome: Answers Found Within

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Hermit as an outcome points inward. Here is what it says about where things are heading, in love, at work and reversed.

The Hermit as an outcome is a time of withdrawal that brings understanding. The situation is heading toward reflection rather than action, and the result is wisdom you could not have found in a crowd.

What the Hermit means as an outcome upright

Tina Gong's the Hermit guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with soul searching, introspection, being alone and inner guidance. In the outcome position I read those meanings as the likely direction of the situation if things carry on as they are now. An outcome card is not a fixed sentence. It shows where the current road leads, and roads can be changed. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Hermit shows the outcome as a pause for inner work. You may step back from a situation, take time alone or seek guidance from someone wise. The result is clarity about what you really want.

The Hermit reversed as an outcome

Reversed, the Hermit as an outcome warns of isolation that has gone on too long, or of avoiding the reflection you need. Either come back toward people, or give yourself the quiet you have been refusing.

The Hermit as a love outcome

As a love outcome, the Hermit often points to a period of being single or of space within a relationship. It is not necessarily an ending; it can be the time you need to know your own heart before choosing.

The Hermit as an outcome for work and money

For work and money, the Hermit as an outcome favours study, specialist expertise and solo projects. It is a slow card for quick results and a strong one for depth. A card can describe a direction; for decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take advice from someone qualified as well.

What helps this outcome along

Solitude helps this outcome. Give yourself time away from other people's opinions, and listen for what you already know.

For comparison, the High Priestess as an outcome and the Hanged Man as an outcome point somewhere different. The the Hermit card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Hermit as advice, the Hermit as feelings and the Hermit as a yes or no cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
