The High Priestess as Feelings: Felt, Known and Not Said
The High Priestess sits between two pillars with a scroll half hidden. Here is what I would read when she appears as someone's feelings, and why her silence is full.
If you want the short answer, I would read the High Priestess as feelings that are deep, intuitive and deliberately unspoken. In a feelings position the card suggests the person feels something real for you, understands it better than they let on, and has chosen to keep it behind the veil for now. It does not tell you when, or whether, the veil lifts. Priestesses keep their own counsel.
This is a card of feeling that is known inside and withheld outside. It is one of the more frustrating cards to draw about someone you want to hear from.
The High Priestess upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the High Priestess guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with intuition, mystery, the subconscious and hidden knowledge. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the High Priestess as a person who feels a quiet, strong draw to you and is watching rather than acting. They may sense things about you that you have not said. They are not going to announce any of it until they are sure, and sure takes time.
What I would not read into it is indifference. Still water in this card is deep water. The absence of signals is itself the signal, and it asks for patience and for not pushing.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm that the feeling is romantic rather than a quiet fascination, that the person will ever act on it, or that waiting will be rewarded. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The High Priestess reversed as feelings
Reversed, the High Priestess is often read as secrets with a cost, intuition ignored, or a withdrawal that hides something. As feelings, I read the reversal as a person who is hiding what they feel for reasons that are not about timing, or who has cut themselves off from their own feelings and cannot tell you what they are because they do not know.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the silence feel like something being concealed? Or does the person seem genuinely out of touch with what they feel? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The High Priestess as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the High Priestess can suggest that they think about you more than they would ever admit and have reached private conclusions they are not sharing. Those conclusions can be for or against. The card describes the privacy, not the verdict. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The High Priestess as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card describes a quiet, perceptive interest that will not be hurried into words. The best approach is to be genuine and unhurried yourself. Priestesses notice everything, and they notice pressure most of all.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for attentive stillness: they listen more than they speak, they remember what you said weeks ago, they seem to understand you before you have explained. A High Priestess feeling is visible in the quality of attention, not in its quantity.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, the moments you have felt understood by this person, and how long you can live with a feeling that stays behind the veil. The third note is yours. Another draw will mostly reflect the same two pillars.
For comparison, the Magician as feelings and the Queen of Cups as feelings describe different feelings.
