The Magician as Feelings: Interested, Capable and Deciding What to Do
The Magician stands at a table with all four suits laid out. Here is what I would read when it appears as someone's feelings, and why the tools matter more than the wand.
If you want the short answer, I would read the Magician as feelings that are interested, confident and about to become action. In a feelings position the card suggests the person is attracted to you, aware of it, and working out how to turn it into something. It does not tell you what they intend. The Magician can make almost anything, and the card is quiet about which thing.
This is a card of feeling with capability behind it. Whether that capability is used to build something with you or to charm you is a question for behaviour.
The Magician upright as feelings
Tina Gong's the Magician guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with willpower, manifestation, resourcefulness and skill. When the card lands in a position that asks how someone feels about you, I read those meanings as the shape of the feeling rather than as a verdict on the person.
Upright, I read the Magician as a person who feels drawn to you and is not passive about it: they are thinking about how to approach, what to say, how to make it happen. There is intent in the feeling, and intent is attractive. It is also, in some hands, technique.
What I would not read into it is sincerity by default. The Magician's tools can make a real connection or a convincing show of one. I would look at whether the person's charm is for you or simply for an audience.
What the card does not tell you
The card does not confirm that the attraction is deep rather than skilful, that the person's plans include a relationship, or that what they make will last. No card lets a reader check a real person's private feelings. What a card can do is give you an honest picture of the feeling you are hoping for or fearing, and a prompt to compare it with how the person actually behaves.
The Magician reversed as feelings
Reversed, the Magician is often read as manipulation, trickery, or talent wasted. As feelings, I read the reversal as interest that is being managed rather than felt, a person who says the right things because they know what the right things are, or as someone who feels a great deal and cannot bring themselves to act.
In your own question, ask which fits. Does the person's attention feel like a performance? Or do they seem to want you and keep not quite doing anything about it? A reversed card is a prompt to notice which of those is true from what you can see, not a diagnosis of the other person.
The Magician as an ex's feelings
Asked about an ex, the Magician can suggest that they still feel the pull and are capable of reopening things if they decide to. That is a long way from deciding to. The Magician is a card of ability, and ability sits unused on the table all the time. My guide to asking a psychic whether an ex will come back explains what a reading can and cannot say about that question.
The Magician as a new person's feelings
For someone new, this card describes a confident, deliberate interest: they like you and they are going to do something about it. Enjoy the competence. Watch for whether, once the approach has worked, the person is still as interested as the approach suggested.
What to watch for in their behaviour
Look for intention made visible: they plan, they follow through, they create occasions to see you. A Magician feeling is purposeful. If the purpose seems to be impressing you rather than knowing you, read the reversal, however polished the result.
What to record before drawing again
Keep three short notes: the question you asked, what the person has actually made happen between you, and whether it feels made for you or made for effect. The third note is the discerning one. Another draw will mostly reflect the same table with the same tools.
For comparison, the Fool as feelings and the High Priestess as feelings describe different feelings. The the Magician card meaning page covers the card outside feelings questions, and the general card meanings at Biddy Tarot are a useful second reference.
