The Sun as Advice: Be Open and Enjoy It

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Sun as advice asks you to step into the light. Here is how, and what the reversal says about expectations.

If you want the short answer, the Sun as advice says: be open and enjoy it. Show up as yourself, say the honest thing, and let good things be good without waiting for the catch.

What the Sun advises upright

Tina Gong's the Sun guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with joy, success, positivity, vitality and clarity. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Sun advises confidence and joy: share your success, be visible, play, celebrate what is working.

What the Sun is not asking you to do

The Sun is not asking you to ignore real problems. It asks you not to invent them.

The Sun reversed as advice

Reversed, the Sun as advice says adjust your expectations, not your hope. The good thing is real; its timing or shape may differ from what you imagined. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Sun as advice in love

In love, the Sun advises openness and warmth, with nothing hidden.

The Sun as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises putting yourself forward confidently. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Do one thing this week purely because it makes you glad, and tell someone about something that has gone well.

For comparison, the Star as advice and the Moon as advice ask different things of you. The the Sun card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Sun as a yes or no, the Sun as feelings and the Sun as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it. For a personal interpretation, my guide to an online psychic reading explains how readings work, and the three-card tarot listing and customer reviews are worth reading before deciding whether to order.
