The Tower as Advice: Let the False Structure Fall

The Tower as advice asks you to stop shoring up the crack. Here is what that means, and what the reversal says about delay.

If you want the short answer, the Tower as advice says: stop propping it up. Something is built on a weak foundation. Face the truth about it now, on your own terms, before it falls on its own.

What the Tower advises upright

Tina Gong's the Tower guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with sudden upheaval, revelation, chaos and awakening. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Tower advises courage in the face of change: say the thing that needs saying, end the pretence, accept the disruption that clears the ground.

What the Tower is not asking you to do

The Tower is not advising you to destroy things for the sake of it. It is about what was never stable.

The Tower reversed as advice

Reversed, the Tower as advice says you are delaying a correction that is coming anyway. Choose it rather than wait for it. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Tower as advice in love

In love, the Tower advises honesty about anything false at the base of the relationship.

The Tower as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises facing the weak point in the plan before it fails. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Name the crack you have been painting over. Take one honest look at it this week.

For comparison, Death as advice and the Star as advice ask different things of you. The the Tower card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Tower as a yes or no, the Tower as feelings and the Tower as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
