The Wheel of Fortune as Advice: Go With the Turn

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Wheel of Fortune as advice asks you to move with change. Here is how, and what the reversal says about repeating patterns.

If you want the short answer, the Wheel of Fortune as advice says: things are turning, so turn with them. Be ready for the opening when it comes round, and take it.

What the Wheel of Fortune advises upright

Tina Gong's the Wheel of Fortune guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with cycles, destiny, turning points and change. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Major Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Wheel advises flexibility: accept that circumstances are shifting, watch for the new opportunity, and move when it appears.

What the Wheel of Fortune is not asking you to do

The Wheel is not asking you to be passive. Luck helps those who notice it.

The Wheel of Fortune reversed as advice

Reversed, the Wheel as advice says break the cycle. Do something different from what you did last time this came round. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Wheel of Fortune as advice in love

In love, the Wheel advises openness to change and attention to repeating patterns.

The Wheel of Fortune as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises readiness for an opportunity and caution about repeating past mistakes. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Write down what you did the last time a similar situation came up, and decide one thing to do differently this time.

For comparison, the Tower as advice and Judgement as advice ask different things of you. The the Wheel of Fortune card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Wheel of Fortune as a yes or no, the Wheel of Fortune as feelings and the Wheel of Fortune as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it. For a personal interpretation, my guide to an online psychic reading explains how readings work, and the three-card tarot listing and customer reviews are worth reading before deciding whether to order.
