The Knight of Wands as Advice: Act Boldly, Then Steer

Written by Chaya the Medium.

The Knight of Wands as advice asks you to go. Here is how to go well, and what the reversal says about recklessness.

If you want the short answer, the Knight of Wands as advice says: act boldly. Move with energy and courage, and keep enough control to steer.

What the Knight of Wands advises upright

Tina Gong's the Knight of Wands guide at Labyrinthos associates the upright card with energy, passion, adventure, impulsiveness and a lust for life. In an advice position I read those meanings as an instruction: the attitude or action the card is asking of you, rather than a description of what will happen. The Minor Arcana overview at Biddy Tarot is a useful second reference.

Upright, the Knight of Wands advises decisive, passionate action: make the move, take the risk, go after it.

What the Knight of Wands is not asking you to do

The Knight is not asking you to burn bridges or leave people behind.

The Knight of Wands reversed as advice

Reversed, the Knight of Wands as advice says slow down. Impatience is about to cost you. A reversed card in an advice position is usually pointing at the habit that is getting in your way, not at a punishment.

The Knight of Wands as advice in love

In love, the Knight of Wands advises showing your desire openly, and then staying around.

The Knight of Wands as advice for work and money

For work and money, it advises bold moves backed by at least a rough plan. Advice from a card is reflection. For decisions with legal, medical or financial weight, take it to someone qualified as well.

One step to take this week

Take the bold step you have been talking about, and write down where you want it to lead first.

For comparison, the Knight of Cups as advice and the Chariot as advice ask different things of you. The the Knight of Wands card meaning page covers the card in full, and the Knight of Wands as a yes or no, the Knight of Wands as feelings and the Knight of Wands as timing cover the other questions people most often ask of it.
